Interested in improving the water quality of our lakes and rivers? The city of Sunfish Lake is seeking a representative to serve on the Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization (LMRWMO) Board of Managers as an alternate. The Board plays a crucial role in decision making for water and stormwater related issues in the watershed, determines organizational priorities, establishes LMRWMO policies, and identifies possible water resource education opportunities. A background in water resources is not necessary to participate.

The WMO enables local water management cooperation and consistency between the member Cities. The WMO Board of Managers is comprised of seven members and seven alternate members appointed by their respective municipalities.

The Board of Managers typically meet monthly on the second Wednesday of the month at 3:00 pm. Board members will be asked for their input related to:

·         Protection or improvement of surface water resources (wetlands, lakes, rivers)

·         Management and treatment of stormwater

·         Education and outreach programs or opportunities to educate watershed residents on their role in improving water quality

·         Policies the LMRWMO should consider with regards to watershed management

Interested residents should contact Christy Wilcox at 612-718-4282.
