Each summer, the Police Department respond to calls from residents regarding door-to-door Peddlers and Solicitors.
According to Section 610 of the City Code, no person may conduct business as a Peddler in the City without obtaining a license which includes a completed application, background check and payment of a license fee. Solicitors are required to obtain a Certificate of Registration issued by the City Clerk which includes completion of the registration application. A background investigation of an applicant of a solicitor may be conducted at the discretion of the City Clerk, Police Chief, or City Council but per State law no fee shall be required of the applicant. The Peddlers License Application and Solicitors Registration must be submitted thirty (30) business days before the applicant desires to conduct business in the City.
Roofing Contractors are considered "Solicitors" according to our Ordinance.
Hours of Operation: Peddlers and Solicitors may only operate during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
