SUNFISH LAKE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING – NOVEMBER 12, 2020

7:00 P.M. – ONLINE VIRTUAL MEETING

Attendants:

      Mayor:  Dan O’Leary

      Councilmembers: Mike Hovey and Shari Hansen

      City Clerk:  Cathy Iago 
      Councilmembers JoAnne Wahlstrom and Steven Bulach were absent.

1.   CALL TO ORDER:  Mayor O’Leary opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
 

2.   Adopt Official Canvass Results of the City of Sunfish Lake 2020 Municipal Election:  City Clerk Iago presented her official canvass report memorandum dated November 12, 2020 and the proposed Resolution Canvassing Returns of the November 3, 2020 General Municipal Election as complied from the City official summary statement and Dakota County Elections absentee ballot, early voting and military ballot statements. She explained that votes were comprised from the summary statement printed from the polling location, the early voting and absentee ballot summary and military ballot statements issued from Dakota County for the November 3, 2020 election.

The City of Sunfish Lake Municipal Election final vote tallies are as follows:

The Clerk explained that Dakota County staff issued, counted and tallied the absentee ballots and early votes cast at the Northern Service Center in West St. Paul and that these votes are included in the vote tallies listed in her report.
 

      Clerk Iago explained that as the legal canvassing board for the City, Council is required to formally approve the results of the election and authorize the Clerk to certify the results to Dakota County. She recommended that Council should adopt the resolution which states that Dan O’Leary is elected Mayor of Sunfish Lake for a two-year term commencing January 1, 2021 and that Shari Hansen and Steven M. Bulach are elected to the City Council for Sunfish Lake for

      4-year terms commencing January 1, 2021. 

      The Mayor asked if there were any further questions and there was no response.     

Mayor O’Leary moved to adopt Resolution No. 20-24 titled, RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS OF THE NOVEMBER 3, 2020 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION for the City of Sunfish Lake and declare that Dan O’Leary is elected Mayor for a two-year term commencing January 1, 2021 and that Shari Hansen and Steven M. Bulach are elected to the City Council for four-year terms commencing on January 1, 2021, seconded by Councilmember Hovey and carried. (3-0)
  

3.   ADJOURN:        The Mayor asked if there was any further business and there was no response.

Mayor O’Leary adjourned the meeting at 7:15 p.m.
